  • Ward Homes warns kids of building site dangers this holiday

As the school summer holidays get under way, Ward Homes is warning youngsters to stay away from construction sites.

While areas where building work is going on can look like exciting places for children to play, they also pose serious dangers says the housebuilder.

“Youngsters are often on the lookout for somewhere new and exciting to play, but construction sites are not adventure playgrounds,” said John Reed, Construction Director at Ward Homes.

"As the school holidays are with us again, it is important to remind children and their parents about the potential dangers of building sites and the need to stay away from them.

“We have active sites across the region, and have recently started work on a number of new developments including Ashdown Place in Uckfield, Highfields Place in Ashford and Saxon Mews in Iwade.

“Our construction teams watch out for youngsters while they are working and we secure our sites when we finish for the day. But we also ask parents to make sure they know where their children are during the holiday time.”

Ward Homes holds regular safety talks and site visits for schools close to where it is building, to highlight the hazards of playing on or near building sites.

“It’s important to get youngsters thinking about the dangers that exist and hammer home the message that they should stay away,” he added.

Ashdown Place enjoys a lovely location on the edge of Ashdown Forest, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and overlooking open farm land. When complete, there will be 140 homes in a mix of 20 different designs.

  • Ward homes doubles discount on new homes for armed forces

Leading housebuilder Ward Homes is doing its bit to support our troops in Afghanistan by doubling the discount it offers to military servicemen and women when they buy a new home.

Anyone who has served in the army, navy or RAF could receive thousands of pounds off the cost of a property thanks to Ward Homes’ Armed Forces Discount Scheme.

Up until now service personnel were awarded a £500 discount for every £25,000 of the cost of the property they were buying.

But from this year’s Armed Forces Day on 26th June the servicemen and women will receive a £1,000 discount for every £25,000 or part thereof on the cost of the property. This would work out as £8,000 off the cost of a £200,000 home.

“As a company, we have over the years helped many people who have served in the Armed Forces move into a great new home,” said Nick Fenton, Managing Director of Ward Homes.

“By doubling the discount we offer to the military we hope we can help many more of these courageous men and women save money when they buy a property.

“Our staff are strongly supportive of the work our troops do in unimaginably hostile war-zones such as Afghanistan. In our own very small way, we hope that this offer shows that we’re backing our words with actions.”

Homes currently available for the Armed Forces Discount Scheme from Ward Homes include Eden Village and Saxon Mews in Sittingbourne, Pavilion Place in Snodland and Priory Meadows on the Isle of Sheppey.
